Ray Vonfyler

Ray VonFyler has extensive work experience in the field of technology infrastructure and network management. Ray started their career as a Data Communications Technician at BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD OF MASSACHUSETTS in 1974, where they were responsible for the installation and maintenance of desktop devices and wiring installation. From 1987 to 1989, they worked as a Senior Field Engineer at Boston Safe, supporting the installation and management of local and wide area networks. Ray then joined Bradlees in 1999 as a Network Analyst, providing technical support and managing WAN/LAN infrastructure for multiple stores.

In 1990, Ray joined Harvard Community Health Plan as a Network Consultant I. During their tenure, they played a key role in the redesign of the Data Center LAN and the transition from shared to switched environments. Ray also replaced Token Ring with Ethernet using Bay Network switches.

In 2000, Ray joined Boston Medical Center as a Sr Network Engineer. Ray led large-scale campus expansion projects, developed IT scope, budget, and timelines, and supported switches and routers on the main campus and Health Centers. Ray was the lead engineer in rewiring the main data center to support new infrastructure and upgraded switching hardware throughout the Hospital over five years.

In 2009, Ray was promoted to Sr. Engineer at Boston Medical Center. Ray represented the IT department in facility build-out projects and the Campus Redevelopment project. Ray recommended and supported audiovisual, video conferencing, signage, and HCTV systems.

Ray's most recent experience is as the Technology Infrastructure Manager at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, starting in 2018. In this role, they are part of a team responsible for supporting and developing the organization's IT infrastructure, including data center facilities, structured cabling, IP-based building systems, and end-point infrastructure.
