Ian Simmons

Ian Simmons is a seasoned professional in mining engineering with over 15 years of experience at BHP. Currently serving as the Superintendent Technical Systems & Data within the BMA Planning Technical & Environment sector, Ian leads a team focused on enhancing data integrity and operational excellence through improved technical processes and applications. Previous roles include Principal Strategy & Performance and Superintendent Mine Scheduling, where Ian demonstrated expertise in overseeing engineering teams, implementing mining design and scheduling outcomes, and fostering technical skill development. In addition to industry roles, Ian contributes to the AusIMM Southern Queensland Branch as a Technical Talks Sub-Committee Member, focusing on professional development for members.
