Joe Newell

Sr Director, R&d / Wireless Strategy at BI Incorporated

Joe Newell has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Joe started their career at BI Incorporated in 1991 as a Technical Project Manager and worked there until 2001. During this time, they gained valuable experience in project management. Joe then joined Bluelight Software in 2001 as a Director of Software Engineering, where they managed a development team working on a product suite for the fire safety service industries. In 2003, Joe returned to BI Incorporated and took on multiple roles, including Principal Systems Architect and Director of Enterprise Architecture & BI Labs. In their roles, Joe was responsible for leading the enterprise architecture group and creating BI Labs, an internal R&D center. Joe focused on emerging technologies such as wireless communications, location-based services, data processing, analytics, data visualization, and augmented reality. Joe's most recent role at BI Incorporated was Senior Director of R&D / Wireless Strategy. Joe has a strong background in technology and has consistently taken on leadership roles throughout their career.

Joe Newell completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering with a focus on Embedded Systems at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1983 to 1987. In addition to their formal education, they obtained various certifications including "Raspberry Pi Essentials and Extras" from StackSkills in 2018, "Continuous Delivery & DevOps" from Coursera in 2018, and "Data Analysis," "Model Thinking," and "Computing for Data Analysis" from Coursera in 2013.
