Mike Coakley

Mike Coakley is an experienced strategic communications professional who has advised global business leaders and provided counsel to some of the world’s most revered politicians and athletes. Mike is currently Vice President, Head of Communications for Liberty Latin America (LLA), a leading communications and entertainment provider with operations in more than 30 markets across the Caribbean and Latin America. In this role, Mike manages an international team of professionals with a portfolio of responsibilities that include crafting LLA’s strategic communications, protecting the company's corporate reputation and brand, and managing internal communications and employee engagement for nearly 12,000 employees. Working with a diverse and multi-cultural team, Mike plays a central role on the company’s Environment, Social, and Governance reporting committee; has developed the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy; and leads LLA’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) agenda. He currently serves as a director on the board of the Cable & Wireless Charitable Foundation.

Prior to LLA, Mike was one of the first team members for the global CEO advisory firm, Teneo. Working alongside the founders, Mike was instrumental in building and managing strategic communications engagements for some of the world’s leading companies, non-profit organizations, and iconic athletes. His work ranged from multi-billion-dollar M&A transactions to Olympic and World Cup bids to managing reputational challenges for multi-national consumer brands.

Mike’s professional integrity and commitment are reflected in relationships built and maintained with business leaders and former colleagues across the globe. This includes his role as a founding team member of the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative (BJKLI), a non-profit focused on creating a world where workplaces are free of discrimination and inequality. Mike began his work with sports icons and social activists Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss in 2014, and he remains a close and trusted advisor to their organization.
