Chay Choong

Chay Choong has a diverse work experience in the fields of platform engineering, site reliability engineering, and consultancy.

They currently work at Bifrost as a Platform Engineer, starting in January 2022.

Prior to that, Chay worked at Motional from May 2018 to January 2022. Initially, they held the position of Backend Engineer, where they built applications for loading software stacks on driverless vehicles and collaborated with engineers from ride-hailing companies. During this time, they gained expertise in Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, and utilized AWS services extensively. They also introduced development practices, including conventional commits and gitflow, and initiated a redesign of their microservice architecture. Subsequently, they became a Site Reliability Engineer, responsible for ensuring the reliability of Motional's systems.

Chay's work experience also includes a role as a Consultant at Arup, from September 2017 to May 2018. Here, they led the coordination and launch of the Consulting Group's digital transformation movement. They used C# (.NET), Python, and Unreal Engine to develop task automation applications and created VR applications for SoundLab.

Chay Choong attended the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) from 2014 to 2017, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Design. In 2015, Chay Choong also participated in a Summer Exchange program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The field of study for this program is not specified.
