Jeffrey Bland

Dr. Jeffrey Bland is based in Seattle, Washington, He has been an internationally recognized leader in the nutritional medicine field for over 30 years. He is currently the President of the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute.

Dr. Bland founded HealthComm International, Inc. in 1984, and served as its Chief Executive Officer until a merger with its strategic partner, Metagenics, in 2000. A nutritional biochemist and registered clinical laboratory director, Dr. Bland is a former professor of biochemistry at the University of Puget Sound and a previous Director of Nutritional Research at the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine. He is one of the original Board members of Bastyr University, the first federally accredited university in the United States offering graduate and undergraduate degrees in natural medicine. With his wife, Susan Bland, MA, he founded the Institute for Functional Medicine, now a respected post-graduate medical education institute with more than 100,000 health practitioners who have attended its courses. In November 2012 he retired from Metagenics to found the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Insititute (www.plminstitute.org). He is presently also the Chief Executive Officer of KinDex Pharmaceuticals (www.kindexpharmaceuticals.com), a Seattle -based biotechnology company developing a platform drug technology for the management of type 2 diabetes, inflammation, and obesity. He is the author of five books for the general public and seven books for health professionals on nutritional and functional medicine. In 2017 he co-founded and serves as the Chief Science Officer of Bering Select Seafoods that has developed a proprietary process in their Pharmaceutical grade Dutch Harbor, Alaska manufacturing plant for producing MSC certified cod liver oil that retains the full spectrum of nutrients including vitamins A and D, unique omega 3 fatty acid composition, and a portfolio of anti-inflammatory pro-resolving Mediators ( SPMs).
