CEO at Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star

Pierce Bush, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, is responsible for leading the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate 501c3 organization in the country. Pierce Bush started his journey with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a volunteer mentor to Jaylyn in 2009, and he was appointed to the Houston Regional Board in early 2012. Believing that Big Brothers Big Sisters embodies a mission that represents the American spirit of volunteerism and service to others, Pierce left his career in finance to join the staff full-time in October of 2012.

Since joining the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff team in Houston, the Houston market has increased its reach by 65% more youth served. Through Pierce’s leadership, Big Brothers Big Sisters completed construction and capital campaign fundraising on a new, innovative, and highly visible $8 million Houston headquarters near downtown.

Pierce became the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Starin August 2015 with the vision to build on this success and impact more children across the state of Texas. Under his leadership, the agency launched the new strategic plan Vision 2×22. The strategic plan’s commitment to outcomes and the staff’s hard work has helped achieve success for Texas kids. 97.5% of Big Brothers Big Sisters mentees who graduate high school in the program are enrolling in college, employed or enlisted in the military in their first year as post graduates. In 2016, in Pierce’s first full calendar year as CEO, the consolidated Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star agency turned a corner financially and celebrated a cash flow positive year for the first time since Lone Star was created through mergers of various Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate agencies in 2010.

Pierce earned a BA in American Studies from the University of Texas in Austin. Originally from Houston, Pierce splits his time between Houston and DFW to support BBBS efforts in.
