About The Role

We are looking for a data-driven SEO writer, who possesses a strong command of the English language, to join our Growth team, and drive SEO efforts on TechCabal, through writing well optimized content for TechCabal’s audience, as well as editing editorial content for SEO. As an editor that’s concerned with both writing within TechCabal’s editorial guidelines, and being growth focused, yours is a hybrid role, that will work hand-in-glove, with the editorial team to maintain editorial integrity even though you are under the Growth team.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who loves media, loves our brands and understands the value in not just writing great pieces, but optimizing them for distribution. Your ability to write creative pieces, while keeping SEO front and center will be key, along with an ability to track, and report on the impact of your work.

Working closely with our SEO Analyst, and a Senior Editor on the TechCabal editorial team, you will also work hand in glove with the rest of the growth/marketing team, our talented editorial teams, our biz dev team and the other units that make Big Cabal special. This is a cross-functional role where you will support various teams in the business and receive the same support from them all.

While Big Cabal Media operates out of our Lagos office, this role is remote-friendly, and we welcome applicants from anywhere in the world.

What you’ll do;

• Drive audience growth for the TechCabal website, through writing pieces that drive SEO traffic, and optimizing articles from TechCabal’s newsroom.

• Use keyword research and SEO best practices to work directly with editors and reporters on content optimization

• Contribute to an SEO Calendar with topics, content ideas, and other strategic notes

• Monitor the performance of articles using real-time analytics tools and make strategic SEO decisions based on that data and real-time Google Rankings

• Optimizing copy and landing pages for search engine optimization

• Performing ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities

• Research and analyze competitor advertising links

• Develop and implement link building strategy

What makes you qualified for this role;

• You have between 1 to 2+ years experience in combining writing with SEO best practices. Experience working in media is a plus, but not compulsory

• You have worked in a newsroom, either as a writer, or as an editor.

• You like Google sheets like bread likes butter, and can use it to create clear dashboards.

• You believe that in data we trust.

• You are a strong communicator, and collaborator.

• You are both analytical and creative.

• You are curious, and are open to learning.

• You are passionate about the media industry, and building things bigger than yourself.
