Tyler Buffington

Tyler Buffington, PhD has a diverse work experience in data science and research. Tyler is currently working as a Lead Data Scientist for Big Fish Games, specializing in growth and user acquisition. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist for the same company. In 2021, they also held the position of Senior Data Scientist at The International Public Safety Data Institute. In addition, they worked as a Data Science Writer for Towards Data Science.

Earlier in their career, Tyler served as a Lead Data Scientist for Prominent Edge from 2020 to 2021. Tyler'swork involved leading data science projects and collaborating with teams.

Tyler's research experience includes their role as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin. During this time, they developed innovative models and tools related to fire incident analysis, ambulance and fire engine deployment, and risk assessment. Tyler also conducted research on residential fire forecasting and response time analysis. Additionally, Tyler worked as a Teaching Assistant during their time at the university.

Prior to their research roles, Tyler gained practical experience as a Maintenance Intern at The Dow Chemical Company and as an Intern at Prime Controls.

Tyler Buffington, PhD obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with summa cum laude honors, from Texas A&M University in 2016. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Thermal/Fluids Systems, at The University of Texas at Austin from 2016 to 2020.
