Sevelt Kelly III has a diverse work experience in security and law enforcement. Sevelt began their career in the U.S. Navy in 2000 as a Patrol Officer, fulfilling various military policy duties for combat and peacekeeping missions. Sevelt gained experience in traffic accident investigation, patrolling, writing reports and tickets, conducting felony traffic stops, and criminal investigations.

From 2006 to 2010, Sevelt served as a Security Liaison and Assistant Anti-terrorism Force Protection Training Supervisor in the U.S. Navy, where they specialized in anti-terrorism force protection and law enforcement. Sevelt also served as a Patrol Supervisor from 2010 to 2012, overseeing daily activities, managing entry control points, and protecting Naval Base San Diego.

Following their service in the Navy, Sevelt worked as an Account Manager at Pro-Tect Security and as a Federal Police Officer at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Sevelt then joined Bigelow Aerospace as a Security Officer in 2015.

Sevelt Kelly III's education history begins in 2009 when they attended Central Texas College, where they earned an Associates degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science. Sevelt studied there until 2013. In 2014, Sevelt attended FLETC Basic Federal Police Officer, completing the Federal Police Officer Academy. Sevelt then enrolled in Brandman University in 2016 to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science, which they completed in 2020.
