Gregory Grefenstette

Chief Scientific Officer at Biggerpan

Gregory Grefenstette has over 35 years of work experience. Gregory started their career in 1984 as an Assistant Professor at the University of Tours. Gregory then moved on to become a Research Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh in 1989. In 1993, they joined Xerox Research Centre Europe as a Principal Scientist. Gregory then moved on to become a Principal Research Scientist at Clairvoyance in 2001. In 2004, they joined CEA as a Senior Expert, where they managed a portfolio of research and engineering projects, provided scientific oversight and guidance to the research team, managed team recruitment and development, and organized international workshops and conferences. In 2008, they became a Senior Manager at Exalead, part of Dassault Systèmes. In 2013, they joined Inria as a Senior Research Scientist, where they managed a research project on Personal Semantics, was an adjunct director of the Digital Society Institute, and was part of the Steering Board of the EU ETP New European Media. In 2016, they joined the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition as a Senior Research Scientist. In 2017, they became the Chief Scientific Officer at Biggerpan. In 2018, they became the CTO at NeuroCreate.

Gregory Grefenstette's education history includes a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh (1989-1993), a Thèse 3eme cycle from Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) (1980-1983), a D.E.A from Pierre and Marie Curie University (1979-1980), a Maitrise es Sciences from Université catholique de Louvain (1978-1979), a B.S. from Stanford University (1975-1978), and a Freshman year from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1974-1975).
