Lead Software Engineer at BigHand

David Ansell has a strong background in software engineering, with experience at various companies. David started their career at Anvil Technology, where they worked as a Software Developer. During this time, they were part of a team working on PLASMA, a real-time teletext management system. David also produced technical specifications for proposals and wrote a simulator for Bio-Rad Laboratories.

After Anvil Technology, David joined Infobank PLC as a Software Developer. Here, they developed plug-in COM components and integrated a credit card validation system for an e-commerce application. David also created an XML schema mapping tool.

Next, David worked at EasyScreen Ltd as a Software Engineer. David focused on enabling the EasyScreen trading system to receive live feeds from futures exchanges and improving risk calculation in futures contracts.

Following EasyScreen, David joined Unisys as a Senior Software Engineer. During their time here, they helped develop and support the PATHWAY claim management system for the New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation. David also led a team in creating a more efficient system for entering claim information.

David then joined BigHand, initially as a Contract Software Engineer and later progressing to Senior Software Engineer and Lead Software Engineer roles. At BigHand, they worked on various projects, including developing a services layer for claims-based authentication and improving audio encryption and secure credentials storage. David also worked on client and server components for document workflow systems and implemented full workflow auditing.

Throughout their career, David has demonstrated expertise in various technologies and methodologies, including PRISM, Unity, Entity Framework, SQLLite, WCF, RESTful WCF, objective-c, and XML. David has also mentored developers on agile methodology and test-driven development.

David Ansell has a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Victoria University of Wellington. David also holds a certification as a Scrumaster.
