The stores are located across the country and almost always on the outskirts of the larger Danish towns. Job opportunities therefore exist in all regions, so it is never very far to get to work. 

The first Bilka opened in 1970 in Tilst, Aarhus, and today over half a million customers visit Bilka’s 18 stores every week, where 9000 people are employed.
