Santhosh Mathew

Santhosh Mathew has extensive experience in public policy and finance, demonstrated through leadership roles at the Gates Foundation from June 2018 to November 2020 as Country Lead for Public Policy and Finance, overseeing initiatives in India related to health systems and philanthropic partnerships. Prior to this, Santhosh served in various capacities within the Government of Bihar from March 2009 to November 2017, including roles as Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary for Rural Development, where contributions involved analyzing state capacity issues. Additional roles included Chairperson of the National Council for Teacher Education and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development Government of India. Santhosh holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies and a Master of Science in Social Research Methods from the University of Sussex.
