Lee Bansil

Head of Global Communications at Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute

Lee Bansil has a wealth of experience in corporate communications and public relations. Lee most recently served as the Head of Global Communications at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute. Prior to that, they held the role of Vice President Corporate Communications at Tyson Foods from 2019 to 2021. From 2017 to 2019, Lee worked in corporate communications at Corning Incorporated.

Lee spent a significant portion of their career at Procter & Gamble, where they held various leadership roles in communications. Lee served as the Communications Leader, Global Health and Grooming from 2013 to 2017, overseeing a team of 35 managers and managing brand building programs, corporate communications, and issue and crisis management. From 2010 to 2013, Lee was the Director of Homecare External Relations, managing a global team of 40 managers and responsible for brand PR programs, corporate communications, and executive communications. Prior to that, they held the position of Director, External Relations, UK and Ireland, where they led communications strategy, corporate reputation programs, and government relations. Lee also served as the External Relations Leader, Canada, overseeing communications strategy, corporate reputation programs, and a team of over 40 managers.

Before their time at Procter & Gamble, Lee worked as an External Relations Associate Director, handling government relations and public affairs across EU Member States, North America, and Asia. Lee served on numerous industry associations and global regulatory harmonization programs. Earlier in their career, Lee worked at the European Commission, Directorate General Enterprise as an Administrator in the Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Unit, where they were responsible for legislation drafting, interaction with Parliament, and communication with Member State governments.

Lee Bansil began their career at P&G in 1993 as a Manager in Safety and Regulatory Affairs, where they specialized in consumer safety and regulatory affairs.

Lee Bansil has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Immunology from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons.) degree in Environmental Biology from Swansea University.
