Michael LaPlena has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Michael started their career in 2008 as a Senior Recreation Attendant at Stony Creek Metropark, where they improved productivity and maintained the cleanliness of the beach area. In 2012, they worked as a Writer at SHEI Magazine, writing blog posts and conducting interviews with musicians. Michael then joined National Merchant Services in 2013 as a Senior Account Executive, where they evaluated the needs of retail and food merchants and provided credit card terminals and processing services. In 2014, they joined Billhighway as a Customer Care Associate and later became a Client Accounting Associate, researching and improving the accounting system configuration. Most recently, they worked at Take Detroit as a Video Host and Producer, hosting videos and communicating with restaurant owners and staff.
Michael LaPlena attended De La Salle Collegiate High School from 2004 to 2008. After completing high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in American Culture at the University of Michigan from 2008 to 2012.
