Joanna Brailer

Joanna Brailer, M.Ed., M.L.I.S. has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Joanna is currently working at Billings Catholic Schools as a CTO/Technology Integration Specialist, where they supervise the integration and implementation of educational technology and software. Prior to this role, they served as a Library Media Specialist/Technology Integration Specialist at the same institution, managing library collections across multiple locations and organizing collections to support the curriculum.

Before joining Billings Catholic Schools, they worked at Oak Hall School as a Technology Integration Specialist and a Librarian (Lower School Media Specialist). In these roles, they managed all end user devices through a multi-device management system and served as an administrator for Office 365 Enterprise and software resources. Additionally, they maintained a collection of 14,000 volumes, managed a budget, and administered the Follett Destiny Integrated Library System.

Joanna also gained experience working at the School Board of Alachua County as a Librarian (Media Specialist) and an IT Site Technician. In these positions, they cataloged library materials, instructed faculty/staff in the use of instructional technology, and troubleshooted and repaired computers and technology.

Joanna has also worked as a Librarian (Media Specialist) and a Technology Coach at Aiken County School District, where they served as the Related Arts Department Head and trained faculty/staff in instructional technology.

Early in their career, Joanna worked as a Library Automation Intern at Augusta University, where they developed a LAMP server and installed ARCHON software for the special collections department. Joanna also conducted research on emerging technologies.

Joanna started their professional journey as a Technology Education Instructor at Richmond County School System, where they taught technology to students and served as a site administrator for technology resources.

In their early research career, Joanna worked as a Research Assistant II at both The University of Georgia and UGA Savannah River Ecology Laboratory.

Overall, Joanna Brailer has extensive experience in educational technology integration, library management, and instructional technology training.

Joanna Brailer, M.Ed., M.L.I.S. obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Excelsior University in 2000. Joanna then pursued a Master of Education degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University, which they completed in 2007. In 2012, Joanna acquired a Master of Library and Information Science degree with a specialization in Information Systems from the University of South Carolina. Additionally, they hold several certifications, including a Professional Teaching Certificate from the Montana Office of Public Instruction obtained in June 2021, a Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator certification from Microsoft in 2019, an Apple Teacher certification from Apple in 2017, an Apple Teacher Swift Playgrounds certification from Apple in 2017, a Level 4: Clever Champion certification from Clever Inc. obtained in December 2021, and a Google Certified Educator Level 1 certification from Google in May 2020.
