Maria Vélez

Maria Velez is a Colombian business professional with over eight years of experience in project management, strategic procurement, and digital transformation. Maria is currently a Strategy & Growth Leader at BIMBAU, a construction company in Bogota.

Maria began their career as a Project Control Specialist at Estyma SA, where they were responsible for cost control of the Túnel del Toyo Project through DMS ERP and PMI standards. Maria led the Measurement of Works process and the preparation and reconciliation of acts with the external client. In addition, they updated the budget (objective and real) of the work periodically and reviewed the Financial Statements of the work.

In March 2019, Maria took on the role of Coordinadora de Abastecimiento Estratégico at Constructora Conconcreto, one of the largest construction companies in Colombia. In this role, they were responsible for spend analysis of the company and its subsidiaries. Maria analyzed purchase information and participated in strategic negotiation decisions. (Transactions approximate 600 MM annually). Using purchase information, they structured and executed work plans in the digital transformation process of the company's supply chain. (65% of purchases made through digital media).

In their current role as Strategy & Growth Leader at BIMBAU, Maria is responsible for developing and implementing growth strategies for the company. Maria also leads digital transformation initiatives and provides support to other areas of the company in their digital transformation journey.

Maria Vélez has a Bachelor of Engineering in civil engineering from Universidad de Medellín, a Master of Business Administration in project management from CEF Centro de Estudios Financieros, and is an English specialist from Colorado School of English.

They are on a team with Andrés Rojas - Director, Engineering, Vicente Aristizabal - Head of Operations, and Maria Alejandra Velez - Director, Commercial & Marketing. Maria Vélez reports to Juan Saldarriaga, Co-Founder & CEO.
