Alan Burns has over 15 years of experience in the field of medicinal chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry. Alan began their career in 2003 with a Carnegie Vacation Studentship at the University of Strathclyde. In 2004, they completed an industrial placement with Bayer CropScience GmbH and a summer project at the University of Strathclyde. In 2006, they completed a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at the University of York and internships with GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and The University of Nottingham. From 2015 to 2019, they were a Senior Scientist 1 and 2 at Sygnature Discovery and a Team Leader and Senior Scientist at BioAscent.
Alan Burns received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of York in 2010. Prior to this, they obtained an MSci in Biomolecular and Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde in 2006.
