Joost Janssens has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Joost has worked for Biocartis since 2014, starting as an Assay Process Development Engineer and eventually becoming a Principal Industrialization Expert. In their roles at Biocartis, Joost has been responsible for process development, technology transfer, and design validation for new assays and technologies. Joost has also managed teams and provided technical coaching to junior colleagues. Joost was involved in the development of multiple assays, including the Idylla SARS-CoV-2 Test.
Prior to Biocartis, Joost worked at Merck Sharp & Dohme, where they were an Environmental Monitoring and Water Specialist and Lab Coach, responsible for investigating out-of-spec samples and serving as a Subject Matter Expert in quality controls. Joost also worked as an Improvement Engineer, focusing on microbiological quality and process improvement of pharmaceutical products.
Before joining the industry, Joost worked as a PhD student at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, conducting research on the development of quorum sensing analogues and biofilm inhibitors of Salmonella spp. Joost'sresearch involved various techniques in microbiology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, and organic chemistry.
Joost Janssens obtained a Master's Degree in Bioscience Engineering with a specialization in Cell and Gene Biotechnology from KU Leuven in 2004. Joost further pursued their education at the same university and completed a PhD in Bioscience Engineering with a focus on bacteriology, genetics, and organic chemistry in 2008.
