Kirstjen Nielsen served as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from December 2017 to April 2019, having previously held the position of Principal Deputy Chief of Staff at The White House and Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Nielsen's extensive experience includes leadership roles in various capacities, such as President of Sunesis Consulting, Advisory Board Member for the Cyber Institute at the National Cybersecurity Center, and a civilian expert at NATO. Nielsen has also contributed to the Global Risks Report and led councils focused on risk and resilience at the World Economic Forum.
