Otto Damsma

Otto Damsma has a diverse and extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and clinical research industry. Otto currently serves as the Vice President of Operations for Asia Pacific (APAC) at Bioforum the Data Masters, a data-focused contract research organization (CRO). In this role, they oversee the collection, standardization, and reporting of clinical research data.

Prior to joining Bioforum, Otto worked as a Director at Amstel Bio, where they assisted biopharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations (CROs), and academic organizations with their clinical data management and biostatistics operations. Otto also had experience in working with companies from around the world, including Japanese and Korean companies looking to undertake clinical studies in Australia.

Before their role at Amstel Bio, Otto held various positions at Clinical Network Services (CNS) Pty Ltd. Otto served as the Director of Clinical Programming, where they established a profitable Biometrics department offering clinical data management, statistical programming, and biostatistical analysis services. Otto also played a role as the Director of Biometrics, implementing EDC database development and managing vendors.

Earlier in their career, Otto was the Business Manager of TetraQ at The University of Queensland, where they managed a CRO offering preclinical testing and bio-analytical services. Otto was also responsible for business development and contracting.

Otto's work experience also includes their time at the Queensland Clinical Trials Network Inc. as a Business Development Officer, where they successfully raised the international profile and revenue of member organizations through business development activities.

Otto worked as the Director of Information Management & IT - Europe at Yamanouchi / Astellas Pharma Europe, redefining the European IT environment and contributing to the global IT strategy of the company. Otto also established the Biometrics department at Yamanouchi Europe BV, a multinational pharmaceutical company, and contributed to successful New Drug Application submissions.

Prior to that, Otto worked as a Clinical Research Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim.

Overall, Otto Damsma has a wealth of experience in clinical research data management, biostatistics, business development, and IT management in the pharmaceutical industry.

Otto Damsma pursued their education in a chronological manner. Otto attended the Amsterdams Lyceum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from 1970 to 1973. Following this, they enrolled in the Colegio Cerrado de Calderon in Malaga, Spain for the academic year 1973-1974. Then, from 1974 to 1976, Otto attended the Casimir Lyceum located in Amstelveen, The Netherlands. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Chemistry with a focus on Biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam, where they studied from 1976 to 1983.
