Prior to that, Otto worked as a Clinical Research Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim.

Otto Damsma pursued their education in a chronological manner. Otto attended the Amsterdams Lyceum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from 1970 to 1973. Following this, they enrolled in the Colegio Cerrado de Calderon in Malaga, Spain for the academic year 1973-1974. Then, from 1974 to 1976, Otto attended the Casimir Lyceum located in Amstelveen, The Netherlands. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Chemistry with a focus on Biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam, where they studied from 1976 to 1983.
