Grant Downes

Grant Downes is a Ph.D. candidate at The University of Kansas in the Drug Development Lab under Dr. Cory Berkland, focusing on Type 1 Diabetes antigen-specific immunotherapy. As a student consultant at BioGenerator, Grant collaborates with founders to assess technological feasibility and conduct due diligence on biotech startups. Grant also serves as a Self Graduate Fellow and has experience as a volunteer assistant coach for NCAA Division 1 track and field athletes. Previous roles include venture capital intern at University Venture Fund Crossroads, where Grant analyzed business models of startups, and software test engineer intern at Medtronic, developing coding logic for laser ablation therapy. Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Applied Science in the same field from Wichita State University.
