Roberto Olea Estevez

Biosensor Research Engineer II at Biolinq

Roberto Olea Estevez is an experienced engineer with a background in biosensors, production, and research. Roberto has held roles at Biolinq since 2021, including Biosensor Engineer II, Biosensor Research Engineer, and Research Associate II. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at Integrated DNA Technologies as a Production Scientist II, Production Scientist, and Laboratory Technician. During this time, they synthesized, purified, and performed quality control sampling and analysis on DNA oligonucleotides, operated and troubleshot automated lab equipment and robotics, and prepared, tested, and monitored reagents for synthesis, purification, and quality control processes. In 2018, they were a Project Engineer Intern at Worldcare Technologies, where they designed a low cost fluorescent imager for the imaging and quantification of HIV in blood samples and lead the design of a fluorescent microscope using SolidWorks. From 2017 to 2018, Roberto was a Cardiac Mechanics Research Assistant and Bioengineering Project Team Lead at UC San Diego, where they developed left and bi ventricular shape models of cardiac MRIs for patients of atrial fibrillation and heart failure, analyzed changes in shape and function of several patient models using MATLAB and statistics, and contributed to the development of a cardiac atlas of congenital heart disease. Finally, in 2018 they were a Research and Development Engineer Intern at Akira Diagnostics, where they conducted research on microfluidics and micro-needles and designed and 3D printed different models of a drug delivery device with different components and parameters using Solid Works.

Roberto Olea Estevez obtained a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from UC San Diego between 2015 and 2019.
