Paulius Kantakevicius

Bioinformatics Scientist at Biomatter Designs

Paulius Kantakevicius began their career in 2017 as an Intern at Vilniaus Universitetas / Vilnius University, where they worked on a DNA-DAPI Interaction-Based Method for Cell Proliferation Rate Evaluation in 3D Structures. In 2018 they returned to the same institution as an Intern, this time to analyze the diversity and evolution of CRISPR-associated archaeo-eukaryotic primases (AEP) in bacteria. In 2019, they moved to The University of Manchester, where they completed a Final Year Project involving computational modelling for lanmodulin based specific rare earth element biosensor development. In 2020, they joined Medicines Discovery Catapult as a Laboratory Scientist and Bioscience Lead, working in an ISO15189 accredited laboratory that processes patient samples for potential SARS-CoV2 virus. Paulius supervised automated viral inactivation laboratories, trained staff on how to operate Hamilton Microlab STARlet automated liquid handlers, and recorded laboratory and HR documentation. In 2022, they began their current role as a Research Scientist at Biomatter (Designs).

Paulius Kantakevicius attended The University of Manchester from 2016 to 2020, earning an MSci in Biochemistry.
