Justin Laughland

Justin Laughland has worked in various roles in the technology and engineering fields since 2004. In 2004, they began working as an Instructor at White Dragon Martial Arts Schools. In 2007, they became the Lead Programmer at RDD, where they were responsible for data processing department projects and server/client application development. In 2008, they worked as a Robotics Software Engineer at Positronics, Inc. From 2009 to 2016, Justin worked at HGST, a Western Digital company, in roles such as Software/Robotics Manager, Software/Robotics Architect, and Software/Robotics Lead. From 2016 to 2020, they worked at Brightloom as Sr. Hardware Engineering Manager and Head of Automation/Hardware Engineering Manager. Most recently, Justin has been working as Chief Technology Officer at BIOME, where they are building intelligent living environments for healthy humans and leveraging biomimetics to promote physical and mental wellness.

Justin Laughland received a B.A. in Applied Mathematics, a B.A. in Computer Graphics and a Minor in Psychology from UC San Diego between 2000 and 2005. Justin has also obtained four Coursera Course Certificates: Convolutional Neural Networks (March 2020), Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization (April 2019), Structuring Machine Learning Projects (April 2019) and Neural Networks and Deep Learning (March 2019).
