J. Christopher Ellis has had a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies.

J. Christopher is currently working as the Senior Director of Computational Biology at BiomEdit since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Computational Biology and Bioinformatics expert from 2018 to 2022.

From 2012 to 2018, they served as the Head of Microbiology & NGS/Informatics Labs BR&D at Eli Lilly and Company. Before that, they were the President/Owner of In Silico LLC from 2004 to 2013.

J. Christopher also worked as a Post Doctoral Associate at Duke University from 2009 onwards, and as an IRTA Post Doctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) from 2006 to 2009.

Furthermore, their early career involved being a Graduate Student as a NIH Biotechnology Fellow/Teaching Fellow from 2001 to 2006.

J. Christopher Ellis also worked at Eli Lilly and Company in various roles, including Assistant Biochemist for Assay Development and High Throughput Screening from 1997 to 2001. J. Christopher also served as a Contract Worker for a brief period in 1997.

J. Christopher Ellis obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Microbiology from North Carolina State University, where they studied from 1994 to 1997. J. Christopher further pursued their studies at the same university and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology in the years 2001 to 2006.
