Marie-Paule Kieny

Marie-Paule Kieny is an independent director at bioMérieux. Marie-Paule previously served as the assistant director general at the World Health Organization from September 2010 to June 2017. In this role, they oversaw a group of 400 staff with a budget of over $115 million per year. Marie-Paule was also in charge of Ebola R&D for WHO and led the implementation of the WHO R&D Blueprint for action against epidemics.

Marie-Paule Kieny is a French immunologist and vaccinologist who has had a long and successful career in academia. Marie-Paule holds a habilitation to direct research from the University of Strasbourg, as well as a doctorate in genetic engineering from the University of Montpellier. Marie-Paule also has a diplome d'agronomie approfondie and PhD from Montpellier SupAgro. In addition, they have completed an executive high performance boards program at the IMD Business School and an executive education program in global health diplomacy at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.
