Micah Schamis has a diverse work experience that spans various industries. In 2001, they began their career as an English Language Teacher in Japan through the JET program. Micah taught at multiple high schools and also engaged in adult English conversation classes. From 2005 to 2006, Micah worked as an Information Analyst and Audit Consultant for the NYC Department of Education, where they organized and analyzed documentation for federal audits. From 2006 to 2010, they worked as a Quality Assurance and Production Support Specialist at Hudson Valley Systems, Inc., where they developed and implemented quality assurance tests and created data integrity reports. Micah then joined NIST in 2011 as an NIST Associate, conducting research on thin film thermoelectric materials. In 2011, they also started working as an Engineering/Science Content Editor for diacriTech, reviewing and proofreading online content for physics, engineering, and math textbooks. Micah joined IBM in 2013 as a Semiconductor Characterization Engineer, conducting materials characterization for the Microelectronics Research Lab. Micah then joined SunEdison Semiconductor in 2015 as a Process Development Engineer, before finally landing a role at bioMérieux in 2017. At bioMérieux, Micah initially served as a Contract Materials Engineer and later transitioned into the role of an Associate Principal Engineer.
Micah Schamis completed a BA in Mathematics at Kenyon College from 1997 to 2001. Following this, they pursued an MS in Materials Science and Engineering at The Catholic University of America from 2010 to 2011.
