Katrien Corbeels

Katrien Corbeels is a seasoned professional in the field of biomedical sciences with extensive experience in scientific and medical writing. Currently serving as Manager of Scientific/Medical Writing at BioNTech SE since May 2024, Corbeels previously held the position of Research Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center from March 2021 to November 2022. Corbeels completed a PhD focused on the impact of bariatric surgery on calcium homeostasis and bone metabolism, conducting research at KU Leuven and the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) between 2015 and 2020. This PhD project included the use of mouse models, multiple collaborations, and resulted in significant scholarly output. In total, Corbeels authored three peer-reviewed publications and contributed to numerous collaborative research efforts while also supervising master’s students. The academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the same institution.
