Pieter Vandersteen

Pieter Vandersteen is an experienced professional in the field of intellectual property and patent law, currently serving as Senior Director IP - Patent Lead at BioNTech SE since March 2021, after holding the position of Director of Intellectual Property. As a Joint Owner at POUSADA Canto Da Saracura since December 2016, Pieter also brings a diverse entrepreneurial perspective. Previous roles include Director of Patent Law at Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson, and Senior Manager Patent Law at Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Pieter's extensive background began as a Patent Engineer at Pronovem, accompanied by experience as a Research Engineer at Procter & Gamble. Pieter holds a Master’s in Patent Litigation in Europe from Université Robert Schuman, a Master’s in IT from Limburgs Universitair Centrum, and an MSc in Biotechnology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
