Wayne Widdison

Wayne Widdison is a highly experienced chemistry professional specializing in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and linker-payload technology. Currently serving as Director of ADC Chemistry at BioNTech SE since January 2024, Wayne leads a team focused on designing and preparing optimized ADCs. Previously, Wayne held the role of Associate Director of Chemistry at AstraZeneca and Nektar Therapeutics, where responsibilities included designing linkers and payloads, as well as leading interdisciplinary teams in therapeutic development. Wayne's extensive career includes significant contributions at ImmunoGen, Inc., where a notable achievement was the invention of payloads and linkers for ADCs, including optimization of the FDA-approved drug Kadcyla®. Wayne's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Syracuse University and a BS in Chemistry from Eastern Nazarene College.
