Christine Orr has over 25 years of experience in sales and marketing. Christine began their career in 1991 as an Exhibits Coordinator for SPRINGER-VERLAG, where they managed staff travel plans and meeting registration for more than 50 domestic conferences, and negotiated display arrangements for 200 combined cooperative book exhibits per annum. In 1994, they moved to Elsevier Science as an Exhibits Coordinator. In 1996, they became a Marketing Manager at the American Institute of Physics, where they managed all aspects of marketing AIP’s journals, conference proceedings, and electronic products to libraries, corporations, and other institutional customers. In 2008, they took on the role of Director, Publication Sales at the Optical Society of America, responsible for strategic development and tactical implementation of institutional sales efforts for a portfolio of journals and online products with a global customer base. In 2011, they took on the role of Sales Director, North America at Ringgold Inc., responsible for business development of institutional market database products and services designed to support scholarly publishers and intermediaries. Finally, in 2019, they became the Director of Sales & Marketing at BioOne, an innovative nonprofit collaborative and the leading content aggregator focused on the biological, ecological, and environmental sciences.
Christine Orr is currently enrolled in Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management, where they are pursuing a Scholar Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Prior to this, they obtained a MLS from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in German Language and Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
