Isabel Rocha

Isabel Rocha has a wealth of experience in the field of biotechnology and bioindustries. Currently holding various leadership roles in different organizations, Isabel has served as Vice-reitor and Pró-reitor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Investigador principal at ITQB-UNL, Administrador at Madan Parque, Presidente at InnovPlantProtect CoLab, Vice-presidente at BIOREF - Laboratório Colaborativo (CoLAB), and Fundador at SilicoLife. With a background as an Assistant Professor at MIT-Portugal Program and University of Minho, Isabel also has experience as CSO at Biotempo and President of APBio - Portuguese Association of Bioindustries. Isabel Rocha holds a PhD in Biotechnology and a MSc in Biological Engineering from Universidade do Minho.

BIOREF - Collaborative Laboratory (CoLAB)

CoLAB BIOREF intends to be one of the driving forces to change the paradigm of economic development by using sustainable biomass as a renewable resource in biorefineries, creating new value chains and qualified jobs. CoLAB BIOREF’s mission is to improve the competitiveness of the biorefinery sector and bio-based products, contributing for a very low carbon economy, generating new value chains, job creation, and boosting bioeconomy. Our vision is “to be an international reference in Biorefining Technologies, multiproduct, multipurpose”. The entities that integrate CoLAB BIOREF are: - National Scientific and Technological System (SCTN) entities (9): LNEG (Coordinator), IST, FEUP, UNL/ITQB, FCUL, U. Aveiro, U.
