Dr Stephen J Newhouse

Dr Stephen J Newhouse has a long and varied career in the field of bioinformatics. Dr Stephen J began their career in 2006 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London. In 2009, they moved to the University of Cambridge as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In 2010, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, and in 2015 they became an Associate Member of the MRC SGDP at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, Kings College London. From 2011 to 2017, they held various roles at King's College London, including Bioinformatics Module Lead, Genomic Medicine MSc, Data Science Group Lead, and Senior Bioinformatician. In 2019, they became the Chief Technology Officer at Mindwave Ventures, and in 2021 they took on the role of Head of Professional Services and Senior Bioinformatician at Biorelate Ltd., as well as Data Scientist at Grid Edge.

Dr Stephen J Newhouse has a diverse educational background. Dr Stephen J obtained a BSc Hons in Molecular Biology from the University of Liverpool between 1996 and 1999. Following this, they earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Forensic Science and Technology from King's College London between 1999 and 2000. In 2001, they completed their PhD in Genetics from Queen Mary University of London. Most recently, they earned the Mental Health First Aid Champion certification from Mental Health First Aid England in 2020. Additionally, they have completed various DataCamp certifications including Data Exploration With Kaggle Scripts, Having Fun with googleVis, Importing Data in Python, Intermediate Python for Data Science, Intro to Python for Data Science, Introduction to Machine Learning, Introduction to R, and Kaggle Python Tutorial on Machine Learning.
