I founded BioScan AI, a purpose-driven company, to leverage computer vision and Artificial Intelligence in medical devices. This reduces burden of the disease by early detection of debilitating diseases in public healthcare system and point-of-care settings, especially for the under-privileged.
At BioScan AI, we have completed one clinical study and completing others by utilizing autonomous image analysis in healthcare: early detection of diseases by AI-powered Software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD), running on a cloud.
Our platform allows one simple scan of the retina to detect diseases as diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, age related macular degeneration and predict risk of ailments such as chronic kidney disease(CKD) and cardio vascular diseases (CVD). Medical practitioners use a specialized camera to acquire retina images and submit them for analysis and receive reports in under 60 seconds!
Another upcomig product, ADITI (AI powered digital infra-red thermal imaging) is a no-contact, no-pain, no-radiation, breast cancer screening platform for public and primary health settings. Medical workers use IR thermal camera to acquire images and submit to ADITI that uses AI algorithms for analysis.
In my earlier avatar at Reliance JPL, I conceptualized the SwastEye platform, a retina screening and monitoring tool in association with the academia. I was the chief investigator and mentor of a breast cancer screening initiative at Jio Institute in collaboration with a reputed cancer foundation in western India.
In the last several years I have worked in areas of computer vision / image quality assessment and optics. I was the Co-Chief Investigator of Bhartiya-Automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS), a fingerprint biometric SDK, which became part of Government of India's flagship initiative Aadhaar (aka UIDAI).
My areas of expertise are adaptive signal processing, image quality assessment/ image enhancement and AI. I am co-inventor of 5 granted patents in image processing.
