Dr. Leiner is the president of Leiner Optics, an engineering company that assists startups and Fortune 500 companies who are incorporating visualization into their medical devices. Dr. Leiner received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Optics from the University of Rochester and his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He is the founder of Lighthouse Imaging Corporation, a leader in medical optics design and manufacture. He is listed as an inventor or co-inventor on more than 20 patents and has published numerous papers in the areas of medical optics and optical instrumentation. Dr. Leiner is a Director of the Optics and Electro-Optics Standards Council, the team representing the United States in international optics standards where he leads the U.S. technical group developing ISO endoscope standards.

The Bioscience Association of Maine (BioME) is a trade organization devoted to promoting growth and development of Maine’s life science industry and serving its members and bioscience community by providing a network for public policy, industry advocacy and economic development. BioME aims to advance economic growth and opportunities within the life sciences community in Maine by allocating equal involvement in life sciences advocacy, education, economic development, workforce development, and attracting out-of-state business.
