James Galagan

James Galagan is a distinguished professor at Boston University, specializing in Biomedical Engineering and Bioinformatics since September 2017. In this role, Galagan leads interdisciplinary research that merges genomics, molecular biology, and computational biology to advance the study of microbial systems and their applications in biomedical technologies like biosensors and wearables. Additionally, Galagan serves as the Director of the Precision Diagnostic Center at BioSens8 and holds the positions of Chief Scientific Officer, President, and Co-Founder at the Boston University College of Engineering. Galagan's previous experience includes significant leadership roles at the BU National Emerging Infectious Diseases Lab and the Broad Institute, where responsibilities encompassed bioinformatics and the development of computational algorithms for infectious disease research. Galagan's academic foundation includes a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
