Matjaz Jakopec

Matjaz Jakopec has a long and varied work experience in software and systems engineering. Matjaz began their career in 1999 as a Research Associate at Imperial College London, where they worked on the development of a prototype Acrobot integrated robotic system for orthopaedic surgery. In 2004, they moved to The Acrobot Company Ltd as a Senior Development Manager, where they were instrumental in the company's product development direction and led the development of the company's flagship Acrobot Sculptor robotic system. In 2010, they became the Head of CAS (Computer Assisted Surgery) Development at Stanmore Implants, where they led the development of CAS systems after the company's acquisition of The Acrobot Company Ltd. Matjaz was also instrumental in obtaining FDA 510(k) approval for Sculptor RGA, and led the development of the Workstation software for CT segmentation and surgical planning. In 2013, they moved to Zuhlke Engineering Ltd as a Lead Embedded Development Consultant. In 2016, they became the Head of R & D at Zedsen. Most recently, in 2018, they joined BIOS as the Head of Software and Systems.

Matjaz Jakopec obtained a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana between 1990 and 1995. Matjaz then went on to pursue a PhD in Medical Robotics from Imperial College London, which they completed in 2001. In 2017, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
