Yuan Liu

Advisory Board Member at Biosion

Dr. Liu has over 30 years of research experience in innate immunity and myeloid leukocyte response under different disease conditions. Her early research efforts include elucidating cell surface protein interactions, such as those mediated by integrins and Ig superfamily molecules (CD47, SIRPα, JAMs, etc.), in neutrophils and monocytes during their responses to inflammatory cues and chemotactic transmigration in tissues. In recent years, her research focuses on macrophage phenotypic activation and cell surface receptor-mediated positive and negative regulation in response to pro- and anti-inflammatory signals. Dr. Liu received her MD from Beijing Medical University (current Peking University Health Science Center) and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of South Alabama. Her post-doc training specialized in innate leukocyte and intestinal inflammation under the tutelage of Drs. Charles Parkos, Asma Nusrat, Andrew Gewirtz and Didier Merlin.
