Marco Schmidt began their work experience as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) in January 2006 and stayed with the company until December 2009. Marco then joined the University of Cambridge in 2010, where they held the position of Marie Curie Intra-European Fellow from March 2011 to March 2013. During this time, they successfully secured funding and conducted research on inhibiting microRNA function and identifying novel inhibitors of M. tuberculosis. In 2016, Marco became an EXIST Stipendiat at Universität Potsdam from April 2016 to March 2017. Currently, they are the Managing Director & Chief Scientific Officer at biotx.ai starting from September 2017.

Marco Schmidt has a solid education history in the field of chemistry and biochemistry. Marco obtained their degree of Dr. rer. nat. in Chemie from Freie Universität Berlin, where they studied from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their Diplom in Biochemie also at Freie Universität Berlin, from 2001 to 2005. Marco also holds the certification of Dipl.-Biochemiker, although details regarding the institution and exact timing of its acquisition are unavailable.
