Leah Tanya Cheeke has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Leah Tanya started their career as a Manager at Tim Hortons from 1994 to 1997, where they handled various responsibilities related to human resources, operation objectives, and financial management. Leah Tanya then worked as a Supervisor at Tim Hortons from 2000 to 2002. Leah later took on the role of Manager at Mary Brown's Famous Chicken and Taters from 2002 to 2004, and at Vanelli's from 2004 to 2006, where they were responsible for managing employees, planning and implementing strategies, and ensuring financial objectives were met.

Leah also had a work term as a Pharmacy Technician at Sobeys in 2009, where they gained experience in managing medication distribution, providing drug information, and ensuring patient safety. Leah Tanya then joined RJG Construction Ltd as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Mason, and Labourer from 2009 to 2012, where they operated heavy equipment, performed masonry work, and carried out general labor tasks.

Leah's experience in occupational health and safety includes working as an HSE Intern at Canada Fluorspar Inc in 2016, where they conducted safety training, inspected workplaces for compliance, and maintained HSE statistical data. Leah Tanya also served as an HSE Coordinator/Safety Supervisor at Bird Construction in 2018, and as HSSE Lead and Site Services Contract HSE Manager at the same company from 2020 to 2023, where they were responsible for overseeing HSE policies, conducting inspections, and managing safety on various construction sites.

In 2018, Leah briefly worked as a CSA/OFA III at BC Ferries, where they provided support with customer service and occupational first aid.

Leah Tanya Cheeke has a diverse education history. Leah Tanya started their academic journey in 1991 at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where they pursued General Studies. In 1992, they attended Fleet School and obtained an Able seaman Qualification (OSQAB). After a break in their education, Leah went on to Keyin College from 2007 to 2009, where they earned a Diploma in Pharmacy Technician/Assistant. In 2014, they returned to Keyin College for another diploma, this time in Occupational Health and Safety, which they completed in 2016.

Leah's major educational achievement came from Cape Breton University, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences (Public Health). Leah Tanya enrolled in 2016 and is expected to complete their degree in 2022.

In addition to their academic pursuits, Leah has obtained various certifications and training. These include CSTS 20 from the Alberta Construction Safety Association, Occupational First Aid Level III from HeartSafe EMS Inc., and multiple marine safety certifications such as Marine Emergency Chute Training (MEC) from Survitec Group Ltd. and Marine Evacuation Systems (Slide) MES LSA from BC Ferries. Leah Tanya also holds certifications in Passenger Safety Management and WHMIS.
