Miriam Steckl is an experienced professional with a diverse background in design, facilitation, and research. Miriam currently serves as a Senior Product Designer at birdie, a leading home healthcare technology platform. In this role, they contribute to the transformation of older adults' lives by providing care providers with tools to deliver better quality care and improve operational efficiency.

Miriam started their career at the Polizei Baden-Württemberg as a Corporate Health Manager, where they successfully implemented a health intervention program promoting physical activity among employees, resulting in a 60% increase in daily movement.

Miriam then joined the Hasso Plattner Institute as an Academic Researcher and Assistant, conducting a qualitative study on the user experience of psychotherapists using a digital collaboration tool. Their responsibilities included video analysis to evaluate the impact of the tool on therapist-patient interactions.

Miriam later moved on to the role of Innovation Program Lead at the HPI Academy, where they managed and co-designed a three-month-long leadership training program focused on Design Thinking. Miriam worked as a Design Thinking Team Lead at the Hasso Plattner Institute's D-School, leading cross-disciplinary product teams through the entire product development process. Miriam supported stakeholder collaboration and ensured that teams met user needs and business requirements.

Miriam briefly worked as a UX Designer and Researcher at Futurice, contributing to the development of digital products and services for various clients. During this time, they conducted field interviews in sub-Saharan countries for an international NGO.

Miriam has also demonstrated their passion for gender equality and inclusion as a Podcaster for the 100 Frauen* Podcast. Miriam conducted 18 interviews with female activists, leaders, and politicians and published them as a podcast, reaching a wide audience and building an engaged community.

Miriam Steckl started their education history in 2014 when they attended Pädagogische Hochschule Schwäbisch Gmünd, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion in 2018. In 2017, they spent a semester abroad at Kristianstad University, studying Global Health. In 2018, they pursued Basic and Advanced Level Certification in Design Thinking at Hasso Plattner Institute. Miriam Steckl then received a certification as a Certified Systemic Facilitator from Akademie Für Systemische Moderation in July 2013. Currently, they are pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Collaborative and Industrial Design at Aalto University, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
