Hallie Ringle is an accomplished curator with extensive experience in contemporary and African art. Currently serving as Curator at Large at MoMA PS1 since January 2021 and holding the position of Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art at Birmingham Museum of Art since 2018, Hallie Ringle previously worked as Assistant Curator and Senior Curatorial Assistant at The Studio Museum in Harlem from August 2013 to October 2018. Additional roles include Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for the Art of Africa and its Diasporas, curatorial internships at The Studio Museum in Harlem and Museum for African Art, and various positions in visitor services and curatorial education at several esteemed institutions. Hallie Ringle holds a Master of Arts in Art History with a focus on African Art from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Founded in 1951, the Birmingham Museum of Art has one of the finest collections in the Southeast. More than 26,000 objects displayed and housed within the Museum represent a rich panorama of cultures, including Asian, European, American, African, Pre-Columbian, and Native American. Highlights include the Museum’s collection of Asian art, Vietnamese ceramics, the Kress collection of Renaissance and Baroque paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts from the late 13th century to the 1750s, and the Museum’s world-renowned collection of Wedgwood, the largest outside of England.
