Karen Hazelwood has extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management, currently serving as a Buyer for Birmingham Airport Authority since January 2022. Previously, Karen worked as a Buyer for Ford Meter Box from September 2018 to March 2023, and as a Purchasing Agent at Char-Broil from 2003 to September 2018, where responsibilities included sourcing and negotiating pricing for over 15,000 items valued at more than $75 million annually. Prior experience includes roles as a Sr. Material Release Specialist and an Assistant Buyer at Char-Broil and Bradley Direct, respectively, as well as a Buyer at Russell Licensed Products, focusing on inventory management and demand analysis. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbus State University, obtained between 1990 and 1992.

The Birmingham Airport Authority was established in 1986 by the Birmingham City Council to manage the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and continue its growth. The Birmingham Airport Authority is governed by a seven member Board of Directors, appointed by the Mayor of City of Birmingham and confirmed by the Birmingham City Council. The day to day operation is managed by the President and CEO and The Birmingham Airport Authority staff of over 100 employees within five departments. The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) home to four major airlines with over 100 daily flights to 15 cities for more than 2.6 million passengers in 2016.
