Clare Curran is an experienced design professional currently serving as Head of Design at The StartHub since September 2023. With a strong background in digital design, Clare has held senior positions at bitbaby since September 2018, picturepath from September 2017 to October 2022, Acorn Healthtech Cofoundery and Nova both from October 2016 to October 2022, focusing on multi-platform designs that encompass UI, UX, motion graphics, and branding. Prior to these roles, Clare worked at Barclays as a Senior Designer from August 2015 to July 2016 and spent 16 years at AmazeRealise as a Senior Designer, honing skills in design with a meticulous attention to detail. Clare's career began at the University of Salford, where design work included print and online mediums. Clare holds an MA in Creative Technology and a BA(hons) in Graphic Design, both from The University of Salford.

In the UK there are approximately 3000 stillbirths each year. Very often these babies are born perfect and in some cases why they died remains unexplained. Regular movements are the key indicator of fetal health, but currently, there is no means of monitoring them beyond a mother's perception.Designed by founder Rachael, an experiencedmidwife of 20 years, bitbaby is a wearable device and mobile application that helps pregnant women to keep a check on their baby's movements during pregnancy. To monitor the baby’s movements, bitbaby is simply worn on the mother’s bump. The device then sends this information to the app where it records the movement readings and alerts any changes.
