Bernadette Phelan has a robust background in sustainable business practices and economic development, currently serving as the Head of Advisory Services at Business in the Community since April 2012, where leadership involves managing advisory services and the Leaders' Group on Sustainability. Prior experience includes a Development Executive role at the Western Development Commission from June 2005 to March 2012, focusing on strategic initiatives in the renewable energy sector, where notable achievements include managing a €2.8 million EU project and delivering the Wood Energy Strategy for the Western Region. Earlier in their career, Bernadette held positions as an Enterprise Development Officer and Economic Researcher at BNS Rural Development Ltd, where responsibilities spanned grant application support and socio-economic research. Academic qualifications include a Master’s in Regional and Rural Development from University College Dublin and a BA in Economics and Geography from Trinity College Dublin.
