Ian Shipman has worked in various roles in the field of engineering since 2006. Ian began their career as a Lecturer at the University of Chicago, where they were a Teaching Assistant until 2008 and then a Lecturer in low level classes, such as calculus, linear algebra, and others. In 2011, they moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a C.L.E. Moore Instructor, where they ran discussion sections for 18.01 (Calculus 1) and 18. In 2012, they became an Assistant Professor and NSF postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan, where they also taught courses including linear algebra and calculus III. In 2015, they moved to the University of Utah College of Science as a Research Assistant Professor. In 2018, they joined CFX Markets as Head of R & D and Senior Engineer. Most recently, in 2019, they joined Bitnomial as an Engineer.
Ian Shipman earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2011. Prior to this, they obtained a BS in Mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2006.
