Farhad Akhavan

Farhad Akhavan has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Farhad is currently working as a Senior Quality Engineer at BiVACOR Inc since July 2021. Prior to this, they were a Senior Quality Engineer at SynCardia Systems, LLC from December 2018 to July 2021. Farhad also worked as a Technical Consultant at GD Pharma (Ribolex) from February 2018 to January 2019.

Before their roles in the medical industry, Farhad had experience in the optical and engineering fields. Farhad served as an R&D Manager at LightMed USA from July 2015 to January 2018. Farhad was a Process Engineer at JDS Uniphase (now lumentum) from November 2004 to April 2007, where they specialized in fiber optics components and process development. Farhad Akhavan completed their education in a chronological order. Farhad started by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Sharif University of Technology in 1989. From 1989 to 1992, they pursued a dual degree program in Electrical Engineering and Physics, earning a Master of Science (MSc) from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Following this, Farhad Akhavan went on to obtain a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the same institution, completing their PhD in 1998.

In addition to their formal education, Farhad Akhavan has also obtained several certifications. In 2005, they received five certifications from the American Society of Quality (ASQ) including Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Biomedical Auditor (BIO), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE). Furthermore, they obtained their Lean Bronze certification from SME/AME/Shingo Prize/ASQ in 2011, and became a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute in the same year.
