John Paul Shoup is a Primary Care Physician with extensive leadership experience at BJC Medical Group since July 2019, holding roles such as Physician Leader for the Primary Care Service Line and Medical Director for both the Access Center and Process Improvement. Shoup co-leads an Agile team focused on developing virtual care solutions. Previously, Shoup served as Chief Resident for Quality and Safety at Durham VAMC and Duke Internal Medicine Residency Program, and held clinical instructor and resident physician roles at Duke University Health System, contributing significantly to quality improvement initiatives and eConsult platform development. Shoup has received multiple teaching awards and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Connecticut School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
